THE WILL OF GOD

Matthew 7:21 says “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
This singular passage here would be the reason why a lot of Christians may not make heaven.  From that passage it can be deduced that not all those who call Jesus , Lord (Christians) would make heaven and the greatest tragedy that can happen to a Christian is not to do the will of God on this earth. This puts the will of God on the foremost list of priorities for a Christian.
There are 3 wills capable of controlling man.
 2. The  Will of the devil
3.The  Will of man himself.

In this life we are constantly being pulled and dragged by the will of the devil due to satanic influence and our wills due to personal interest of the flesh which we believe is logical and seem right. When Eve ate the apple in the Garden of Eden, she was persuaded by the devil but before she ate it, the bible says, that she inspected it and saw that it was good and capable of giving man knowledge. The fall of man was a co-operative endeavor between the will of the devil and the will of man.  This scenario is playing over and over again in the world we live in today.

The will of God however, doesn’t drag you or bombard you. From James 4:7,  Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. We see that we have to submit ourselves to the will of God, it would never force itself on us. This explains why you can never have a child who was never corrected or disciplined and grew up on his or her own turn out right. Because he would be bombarded by the will of the devil and  his own will.

When you submit yourselves to God, then you would be able to resist the devil and he would flee. Resisting the devil when you have not totally submitted yourself to God can be very dangerous. At the same time submitting yourself to God and not resisting the devil would make your salvation useless. Submit yourselves today to the will of God by being born again, and by  bringing your heart to the Lord, letting him take control of your heart and your mind. Ezekiel 33:31 says “ My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to hear your words, but they do not put them into practice. Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain. I peter 4 also says  “Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin. 2 As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.”

The will of God can be classified into two.
1. The revealed will of God which is from the bible, it follows the laws of God placed in the bible.
2. The specific will of God: after you have followed the revealed will of God in the bible then you can now wait for the specifics that God would tell you.

Matthew 19:16 tells the story of a young rich man who came to Jesus   “ Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?” 17 So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”18 He said to Him, “Which ones?”

Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ 19 ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”20 The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept from my youth . What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.

Jesus told him about the revealed will of God in the commandments and then when he said he had fulfilled that, God gave a specific will. In life you would need the  specific will of God and the only way of getting this is to first follow the revealed will. David was one man who followed the specific will of God as Acts 13:36 reveals
“ For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers”.
